About us

Mission

Our goal is that all people, also people on the move, have ownership of their own (digital) health record, can share their record with trusted healthcare providers in Europe and access information regarding health care. By doing so, we aim to improve the continuity and quality of care for people on the move.

Where did this idea come from?

In 2019 we saw in refugee camps in Lesvos that organizations are still making use of pen and paper to document medical conditions, while many refugees, from here on called ‘people on the move’ , in the camps have access to a smartphone. Moreover, during their journey in Europe, medical data is often getting lost because people frequently change locations and healthcare providers. This is also the case within cities, such as Amsterdam. People, often without legal documents, visit different healthcare providers and social organizations often without medical documents, while remembering which medication you used to take, or what medical procedure you had, is sometimes difficult. A lack of medical information leads to barriers in the continuity of care.

Who are ‘people on the move’?

We consider people on the move refugees, undocumented migrants, migrants in asylum procedure, labor migrants and people on holidays.

Where do we start?

We have officially started in Amsterdam. We aim to go to other cities in the Netherlands. First we explore the user-friendliness of HealthEmove and optimize it based on user feedback.

We start on a small scale, but we have ambitious dreams.

Our long-term goal is to take a European approach, introducing HealthEmove information at key entry points to Europe and including as many European countries as we can.
