About us
Mission
Our goal is that all people, including people on the move, have ownership of their own digital health record, can share their record with trusted healthcare providers in Europe and access information regarding health care. By doing so, we aim to improve the continuity and quality of care for people on the move.
Where did this idea come from?
In refugee camps on Lesvos, we saw that many organisations still rely on pen and paper to document medical conditions, even though many refugees, from here on called “people on the move”, have access to smartphones. Throughout their journeys across Europe, medical records are often lost as individuals move between locations and healthcare providers. This also occurs within cities such as Amsterdam. People on the move visit different healthcare providers and social organizations often without medical documents. In many cases, remembering your previous medication or past medical procedures can be difficult. A lack of medical information leads to barriers in the continuity of care.
Who are ‘people on the move’?
We consider people on the move refugees, undocumented migrants, migrants in asylum procedure, labor migrants and people on holidays.
Where do we start?
We have officially started in Amsterdam. We aim to go to other cities in the Netherlands. First, we explore the user-friendliness of HealthEmove and optimise it based on user feedback.
Where do we stand now?
From September 2025 onwards the HealthEmove team is developing in co-creation with our target group new software that better fits the needs of users. In March 2026, the first pilot will run in Amsterdam. We keep you updated!
We start on a small scale, but we have ambitious dreams.
Our long-term goal is to take an international approach, introducing HealthEmove at key entry points into Europe and eventually in as many countries as we can.
